Voicing in Spaces

12 March 2026

This workshop explores the voice as a physical, relational and social phenomenon, as well as an artistic medium. We will trace how sound emerges from the body and moves into space, interacting with bodies within it. We will reflect on how voices are perceived, described and categorised — and how such processes shape identity, authority and vulnerability. Drawing on ideas from sound studies and philosophy, the session also considers the disembodied voice: recording, amplification and AI. When a voice is reproduced or mediated, does it remain ours? Through guided exercises, participants will explore how intention, emotion and attention shape vocal expression, as well as possibilities to ‘sculpt’ with the voice.

Materials:
Please bring a water bottle, notebook, and a writing tool.
